Aleksandar Ivanov

First Violin

The youngest recipient of the Virtuosi Award, Aleksandar Ivanov seamlessly blends expressive musicality and technical prowess across concertos, chamber music, and orchestral pieces. His true passion lies in the emotive realm of late Romantic composers. Awarded a full scholarship for his master’s studies at The Juilliard School under Laurie Smukler, he joined the first violin section of the BPO in 2024, marking a new chapter in his musical journey.

Having delivered captivating solo performances alongside renowned orchestras like the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Danube Symphony Orchestra, the Classic FM Radio Orchestra, and the Little Orchestra Society, Aleksandar Ivanov is a prominent figure in the music scene. His presence extends beyond Macedonia, as he actively performs at The Juilliard School both as a chamber musician and in orchestral productions at Alice Tully Hall. In the spring of 2023, Alex captivated audiences with a rendition of Beethoven's violin concerto alongside the Little Orchestra Society, conducted by David Alan Miller, in a concert series held in New York City. Notably, at the opening of the 2018 Days of Macedonian Music Festival, Alex performed a newly commissioned violin concerto composed by his brother, Filip Ivanov.

In addition to his performance engagements, Alex has a passion for teaching and guiding the future generations into the world of classical music.
